Torben is also project manager on the project "Design oriented modelling of manufacturing informations", and is developing a manufacturing encyclopedia called
Design in Site. His background is in manufacturing engineering, and his main academic and professional interests are in the integration of product design with materials

Claus Bech-Danielsen, Researcher, Danish Building and Industrial ResearchClaus is presently engaged as a senior research associate at the Danish Building and Urban Research, where he coordinates the institute's research in architecture. He is author of the book, "Ecological Reflections in Architecture", which was awarded the European Solar Prize.
David Berman, Designer, CanadaDavid has over 20 years of experience in graphic design and communications. He brings both graphic design and information technology expertise to his information design work. Since 1984, David has worked to establish a code of ethics which embraces social responsibility for graphic designers throughout Canada. The Society of Graphic Designers of Canada ratified his draft nationally in May 2000. He served as the first elected president of the Association of Registered Graphic Designers of Ontario, North America's first accredited graphic design organization from 1997 to 1999. He drafted the association's constitution and Rules of Proffesional Conduct and authored Ontario's accreditation examination section on ethics and professional responsibility. In 1999, the Society of Graphic Designers of Canada named him a Fellow (likely the youngest to have achieved the country's higest professional standing in this field) for his work on the Code of Ethics, accreditation and other national issues. In 2000, he was elected Vice President Ethics of the Society. David is dedicated to realizing graphic design's potential to help improve the human condition and the global environment. He speaks at local and international conferences about the important role graphic designers can play: rather than applying their skills to help organizations mislead their audiences, they can help enhance social conditions around the world.
Claude Berube, Interior Architect, Industrial Designer, Canada/DenmarkClaude was educated in Canada and the UK in the fields of Applied Art and Art and Design. Since 1974, he has been the president of Ove Design Interiors Inc, a multi-disciplinary design firm, based in Montreal, Canada, offering high technology design consultancy services in office interiors, furniture and product design. Claude was the president of the Interior Designers of Québec (SDIQ) and the International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers (IFI). In 1997, he was enthroned to the College of Fellows of the International Interior Designer Association (FIIDA) in the USA. Karen Blincoe, Designer, educationalist and environmentalist. Director of ICIS.Karen Blincoe has held various executive and honorary positions nationally and internationally in the fields of design and education. She presently holds the post of Chairman of the Danish Educational Council for the Ministry of Culture and Vice-president of Icograda (The International Council of Graphic Design Associations). She was appointed head of department for Visual Communication at Danmarks Designskole, Copenhagen in 1991; has been a member of the Arts Council; is a Fellow of the CSD; and is a member of the Association of Danish Designers. Karen established design consultancy, KB Design in 1984, and O2 UK, (environmental design) consultancy in 1989.

Chris has worked with environmental architecture, energy and ecology for over 25 years, as builder, practicing architect, researcher and lecturer. Also worked in Asia (Bhutan) for 10 years as consultant and architect for schools and hospitals. Author of several books. Has also worked as researcher in Bhutan, translating Buddhist texts from Tibetan and studying environmental philosophy. Martin Charter, Director, Centre for Sustainable Design, Surrey Institute of Art and DesignMartin is the Director and Visiting Professor of Sustainable Product Design at the Centre for Sustainable Design at the Surrey Institute of Art & Design. He has held a range of management positions in strategy, research and marketing, and has been launch Director of Greenleaf Publishing and Marketing Director at the Earth Centre. He is the former coordinator of one of the UK's first green business clubs for SME's and presently directs a regional network on producer responsibility issues. Martin is editor of the Journal of Sustainable Product Design and has also edited the Green Management Board and Greener Management International and is the author of numerous books and publications on topics of eco-design, green management, and sustainability. Other responsibilities include membership of the Judging Panels of Design Sense, and ACCA's corporate environmental reporting awards, membership of ISO and BSI groups on ‘Integrating Environmental Aspects into Product Development (ISO12062) and membership of the international advisory boards of CARE electronics network. www.cfsd.org.uk
Kate Fletcher, Lecturer, PhD, Goldsmith's University, UK
Kate is curently lecturing in EcoDesign at Goldsmith's, whilst researching the links between design and sustainabilility.
Of particuular interest is the role of design in sustainable consumption, design for sustainability in textiles/fashion and the relationship between design,
sustainability and local community networks. Recent work has focuses on sustainability education in the HE design sector. She worked for three years on the demi project,
(www.demi.org.uk), integrating sustainable development themes into UK HE design curricule thour multimedia technologies. Her PhD examined "Environmental Improvement by Design:
An Investigation of the UK Textile industry" and she has published numerous articles on the subjects of design, the environment, textiles,materials and the fashion industry.
She is currently acting chair of the Ecological Design Association and is a member of the Organic Textile Standards Committee of the Soil Association.
David Gee, European Environment Agency, Denmark
David is Project Manager for "Emerging Issues and Scientific Liaison" for the European Environment Agency, an EU information-providing institution,
based in Copenhagen. He has worked for over 20 years on occupational and environmental risk reduction within UK trade unions; with the environmental group,
Friends of the Earth, where he was Director; and as a consultant. He has recently finished work on "Late Lessons from Early Warnings: the Precautionary Principle 1896-2000"
and also "Metaphors for Change - Partnerships, Tools and Civic Action for Sustainability" and is currently working on the links between environment and health.
Vibeke Grupe Larsen, Architect, Denmark.Vibeke received her architectural degree from the Academy of Architecture in Copenhagen in 1988 and has since worked for a series of Architectural firms: Hvidt & Mølgaard, Byens Tegnestue, Wohlert Architects, KHR AS, and Vilhelm Lauritzen. She has specialised in environmental project management and has worked on a number of projects for large and medium-sized companies. Vibeke heads the environmental section of the Association of Danish Architects and is Vicechairman of SEL-MA, the Association of Environmental Architecture.
Mervyn Kurlansky, Designer, Denmark.Born in South Africa, Mervyn trained in London, then practiced with Knoll International and Crosby/Fletcher/Forbes before co-founding Pentagram in 1972. Mervyn is a prolific designer, consultant, author, lecturer, and juror. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Society of Designers, the International Society of Typographic Designers, the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufacture & Commerce and a member of Alliance Graphique Internationale and Danish Designers Association. Mervyn's work has been widely published, has won many international awards, and is in numerous permanent collections around the world.

Joel Leonard, Scent ExpertJoel has worked with the science of scent for several decades, most recently through his own company, Joel Leonard scent design. His formal education is in anthropology (Master's of Science, 1996) with a specialization in scents as a form of cultural expression and a thesis on ÓThe Japanese Way of FragranceÓ. Joel trained in the mixing of incense at the Shoyeido Incense Co. in Kyoto, Japan. He has organised may eshibitions, among others ÓDesigned DestinyÓ (duftinstallationer) at the Bronx Museum of Arts i New York, og ÓScents at Rosenborg SlotÓ in Copenhagen. Geoff Mead, Executive Coach, Organisational Coach, Storyteller, UK.Another interesting and diverse master, Geoff¹s background is in management and organisational development for the police force, the UK Office of Public Management and as an external consultant. Tim O¹Riordan, Professor, University of East Anglia, UKTim is actively engaged in the Centre for Social and Economic Research on the Global Environment at UEA. He is a former Chair of the Environment, Science and Society Programme of the European Science Foundation, as well as a former member of the Environmental Research Committee of the UK Economic and Research Council. He is a member of the UK Sustainable Development Commission, has written numerous books and articles on the environment, sustainability and related issues. He is a core faculty member of the Prince Of Wales' Senior Executives Seminar on Business and the Environment, and an adviser to the Dow Chemical Corporation and TXU-Europe.
Chris Ryan BSc, PhD (Melbourne). Director Ecodesign, Australia. ProfessorRMIT University, Melbourne and IIIEE, Sweden Chris is Foundation Chair in Design and Environmental Studies and was Director of International Research Projects at the National Center for Environmental Design, RMIT. Educated a physicist, he has been involved in science and technology policy and environmental strategy. He was principle investigator in the EcoReDesign® project, amongst numerous other academic and consultancy involvements in the area of design and the environment. He was Director of the prestigious International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics, Sweden.
Joachim Spangenberg, Vice President, Sustainable Europe Research Institute, ViennaSince 1955, Joachim has been Vice President of the Sustainable Europe Research Institute, Vienna. Previously he worked for the Wuppertal Institute, ultimately as Director of the Sustainable Societies Program at the Department of Material Flows and Structure Change. He also worked with the Insitute for European Environmental Policy. He has participated in several scientific and environmental organisations; eg. Chairman of the Friends of the Earth Europe, INES Council Member and Vice Chair of BUND/FoE Germany¹s Advisory Board. His current research is focussed on intergrated concepts of sustainable development, using environmental, socio-economic and policy science approached to derive concepts, scenarios and indicators for sustainable development, sustainable consumption and the future of labour in a sustainable economy.
Klas Tham, Professor in architecture at LTH, Lund University, SwedenKlas has more than 35 years of experience as an architect, planner and urban designer in England, Sweden and other European countries. He worked with Ralph Erskine since 1968 and since 1981 as a partner of ARKEN Arkitekter AB in Stockholm. He was partner in charge for a major mixed development in Skarpnäck which in 1983 received the kasper Salin award, the most prestigious architectural award in Sweden. He was the principal exhibition architect, urban planner and programme co-ordinator of the european housing expo Bo01 City of Tomorrow in Malmö/Sweden 2001. He is the urban planner of one of the five international teams which have been invited to compete for the 50 ha Lisnave site in Almada (Lisbon). Klas has developed a theory, complementary to functionalism on ³Man in Architecture², on which he is lecturing extensively to universities, professionals and laymen. He has a professional chair in Architecture at LTH, Lund University, since 1990.
John Wood, Senior Researcher, Goldsmith's University, UK
John Wood is Reader in Design at Goldsmiths College, University of London. Although he trained as an artist, he
invented, marketed, and published a series of energy conservation systems in the early 1970s. He is author of many published papers
and articles on design in the age of over-consumption, including "The Virtual Embodied" (Routledge, 1998).
After a decade as Deputy Head of Fine Art at Goldsmiths, he pioneered several ethics-focused design degrees (including MA Design futures) that
take a deeply questioning and philosophical approach.
Martin Woolley, Professor, BA Hons. Mdes.RCA PhD FRSA, Goldsmith¹s University, UKMartin is Head of the Department of Design and Professor of Design at Goldsmiths College, University of London, where he is primarily responsible for developing research in the context of design practice and theory. He has an academic background in industrial design, interior design, furniture design and design research. His professional work has been primarily in industrial design and design/computer journalism. He is currently Director of the 'Design for the Environment Multimedia Project' (demi), a UK government funded initiative to create Internet learning and teaching resources on sustainable design for the HE design community. Current research interests include: the social/design impact of information technology, design innovation, product semantics, eco-design, user-centred technological development, information management, and research training. Martin served on both the 1992 and 1996 UK government Research Assessment Panels in the Art and Design Unit of Assessment and is currently a member of the UK Arts and Humanities Research Board Panel.
