Transition Network and Schumacher College offer a participatory event inspired by grass roots action that communities are taking in response to the twin challenges of climate change and peak oil. Imagine what your own community would look like as we lead a way of life that is more resilient, more fulfilling and more equitable whilst dramatically lowering our carbon footprint and reducing oil dependency. This is exactly what is beginning to happen around the globe as captured by the recently released film 'IN TRANSITION'. The film comprises footage send from a wide range of communities including the first official transition town in Totnes, England to the 100th transition initiative in Fujino, Japan. Each tells its own story on what happens when we unleash our collective genius and embark on an imaginative and practical journey into rebuilding resilience and drastically reducing carbon emissions in our own locality.

Transition Network is a catalyst for community led responses to the twin challenges of climate change and peak oil. The transition idea initially emerged in Kinsale in 2005 and since then has spread virally across the UK and internationally. To find out more about the Transition Network and to join or start a Transition initiative in your own locality go to www.transitiontowns.org

Schumacher College in Devon, England was inspired by the radical economist E.F. Schumacher, whose commitment to appropriate scale and support for local action within a global network, has inspired people from all over the world to take action to grow a resilient and sustainable future.
